Bis(3-ethyl-5-methyl-4-maleimidophenyl)methane is a white, odorless powder. It is soluble in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) and acetone, but insoluble in water. It can undergo addition copolymerization with many nucleophilic reagents such as amines, phenols, hydrogen sulfide and thiols; it can also be copolymerized and blend-modified with several compounds simultaneously. It features excellent heat resistance, radiation resistance, moisture resistance and corrosion resistance, and is widely used in advanced composite materials, especially in the preparation of engineering plastics, electronic device encapsulation materials, and aerospace materials.
