N,N-Dimethylcapramide is a higher fatty acid amide, existing as a colorless to pale yellow oily liquid at room temperature. It is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone and chloroform. N,N-Dimethylcapramide exhibits excellent properties including lubricity, plasticizing effect, antioxidant activity and thermal stability. It is widely used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, textiles and other fields as a lubricant, softener, dispersant and penetrant. In addition, it can also serve as an intermediate for the synthesis of other higher fatty acid amides.
