N-Cyclohexylmaleimide is a white crystalline powder with a strong pungent odor. It is soluble in acetone, ethanol and chloroform, but insoluble in water, with a melting point of 86–89 °C. It is mainly used as a heat-resistance modifier in polymer materials, as a vulcanizing/crosslinking agent in the rubber industry, as a photosensitive material in optics, as an underwater antifouling agent in marine engineering, and as an extractant and bactericide in pharmaceuticals. In addition, it also has important applications in dyes, petrochemicals and agrochemicals.
